How to use Aldactone Generic?The recommended initial dose for high blood pressure is Aldactone 50mg to 100mg daily which can be taken all at once or split up into two smaller doses daily. To diagnose hyperaldosteronism the usual dose of Aldactone is 400mg once daily for 3-4 weeks long test or 4 days short test. If the patient has hyperaldosteronism then the blood pressure and potassium level should improve. After the diagnosis Aldactone can be used long-term to control hyperaldosteronism for people who cannot or will not undergo surgery to correct the problem or can be used for short term to control hyperaldosteronism until surgery is performed to heal. For this condition the dose is usually Aldactone 100mg to 400mg once daily. The daily dose can be split up into smaller and more frequent doses throughout the day. The recommended initial dose for water retention or edema is Aldactone 100mg daily. It can be taken all at once or split up into two smaller doses daily. It can be increased to 200mg daily. The recommended initial dose for treating heart failure is Aldactone 25mg once daily. It can be increased to 50mg once daily or decreased to 25 mg every alternate day. Aldactone may not be recommended if patient with heart failure has potassium too high or kidney function too poor. The recommended dose for treating low potassium levels in the blood or hypokalemia is Aldactone 25mg to 100mg daily which either can be taken all at once or split up into smaller doses. Aldactone can be administered with or without food. |

Side effects of Aldactone GenericAldactone [SPIRONOLACTONE] medicine is associated with increased risk of bleeding from stomach and duodenum. Since Aldactone [SPIRONOLACTONE] is an antiandrogen drug it can cause gynecomastia development of abnormally large mammary glands in males resulting in breast enlargement menstrual irregularities and testicular atrophy testis diminish in size and may lose its function. Aldactone Generic InteractionIf alcohol is taken while administering Aldactone [SPIRONOLACTONE] it can increase the risk of low blood pressure especially when sitting or standing up suddenly. If Aldactone and ACE inhibitors are administered concurrently it can increase the risk of high potassium levels in blood known as hyperkalemia. If Aldactone and amiloride or amiloride-HCTZ is administered concurrently it can increase the risk of hyperkalemia. Aldactone tablets when taken with Angeotensin II Receptor Blockers ARBs can increase the risk of hyperkalemia. Aldactone tablets when taken with barbiturate can increase the risk of low blood pressure. Patients taking digoxin should be careful because Aldactone can increase the level of digoxin in blood. Patients taking lithium should be careful because Aldactone can increase the level of lithium in blood. Narcotics taken with Aldactone medicine can increase the risk of hypotension. Taking NSAIDs with Aldactone can make Aldactone less effective. Medicines contain triamterene when combined with Aldactone can increase the risk of hyperkalemia. |
